Typhoon Dujuan makes landfall in east China

Typhoon Dujuan made landfall in China's eastern region this morning, hours after flights were cancelled and over 2.60 lakh residents evacuated from the area.
Dujuan, the 21st typhoon of this year, hit the coastal city of Putian at around 8:50 AM, packing winds of up to 33 meters per second, said the Fujian Meteorological Service.
Earlier, flights were cancelled and over 2.60 lakh residents evacuated as precautionary measures before for the arrival of the super typhoon.
In Zhejiang Province, more than 2,60,000 people in seven cities in the province have been evacuated and more than 25,000 ships have returned to harbour or safe waters, provincial flood control and drought relief headquarters said.
In Fujian, Xiamen Airlines cancelled flights to and from Taiwan yesterday. Airports in the cities of Xiamen, Quanzhou and the provincial capital Fuzhou have cancelled all flights today.
All 32,090 fishing boats offshore in the province have returned to harbour and around 160,000 people, including aquatic farm workers and fishing crew have returned to shore, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
