U'khand CM hands over Rs 10 lakh cheque to martyr's family

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat today handed over a cheque of Rs 10 lakh to the family of Lance Naik Mohan Nath Goswami, an Army commando who laid down his life while battling militants in Kashmir.
Rawat met Goswami's family in their house in Bindukhatta in Nainital district and handed over the cheque.
He laid a wreath at Goswami's memorial and consoled his family members, an official release said.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Irrigation Minister Yashpal Arya and Labour Minister Harish Chand Durgapal, it said.
Rawat said the state government will construct a mini-stadium in Lal Kuan which will be named after Goswami. The Haldwani-Lal Kuan National Highway and a school in Bindukhatta would also be named after him, he said.
Besides, Rawat on the demand of the martyr's family, assured to get Goswami's wife a job through Uttarakhand Purv Sainik Kalyan Nigam limited (UPNL).

He also assured them that the state government would write to the Centre to award Ashok Chakra to Mohan.
Saluting the courage of the martyr, Rawat said that Uttarakhand is proud of Mohan who killed 10 terrorists in 11 days before breathing his last.
BJP leader Hemant Dwivedi yesterday visited Goswami's house and handed over a fixed deposit of Rs five lakh on Goswami's daughter Bhumika's name.
Mohan, a Special Forces Commando of the Army, laid down his life while battling militants in Handwara on September 3. He had eliminated 10 militants in a short span of 11 days before making the supreme sacrifice.
