Uttarakhand government has announced an additional relief amount of Rs 25 crore for the farmers who suffered crop losses due to unseasonal rains and hailstorm in the state.
The decision to provide a relief amount of Rs 25 crore apart from the pre-existing funds to the farmers was taken at a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Harish Rawat on Friday, a release here said.
Rawat said that out of the Rs 25 crore, Rs 15 crore would be given to Horticulture department to allow a smooth distribution of free seeds to the farmers for the current sowing season. Rs 10 crore would be given to Agriculture department for the management of the seeds, he said in the release.
The Chief Minister informed that currently Rs 1,000 is being given to the farmers as immediate assistance.
