The Uttarakhand government has launched a cheap meal scheme for providing subsidised food to people.
Launching the scheme here on the occasion of Independence Day yesterday, Chief Minister Harish Rawat said it is a helping hand to the hardworking labour class and resourceless people.
We have started this scheme as we are grateful to hardworking people who toil day and night, he said.
Under the scheme called, 'Indira Amma Bhojan', the government would provide rice, four rotis, pulses, vegetables, sauce, and pickles for Rs 20, according to an official release issued today.
Rawat said the scheme would be launched in other parts of the state soon, it added.
