U'khand govt presents Budget of Rs 45,585.09 crore

The Uttarakhand government today presented a Budget of Rs 45,585.09 crore for 2018-19 in the state assembly here with an estimated revenue surplus of Rs 32.69 crore.

Tabling the Budget in the state Assembly Finance Minister Prakash Pant said that the total expenditure for the fiscal was estimated to be Rs 45,585.09 crore against total receipts to the tune of Rs 45,202.94 crore.

The revenue accounts expenditure stands at Rs 35,627. 31 crore.

There is no revenue deficit which means the total revenue expenditure is less than the total revenue receipts, Pant said.

In fact a revenue surplus of Rs 32.69 crore was estimated and a fiscal deficit of Rs 6710. 34 crore, which is 2.75 per cent of the Gross State Domestic Product, is well within the limits prescribed by the Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management Act (3 per cent of the GSDP), he said.

The revenue expenditure for the year 2018-19 is expected to be Rs 35,627.31 crore which constitutes 78.16 per cent for the total expenditure.

The budgetary provisions this year are 14.08 per cent more than the ones presented last year, the finance minister said.

The Budget lays emphasis on infrastructure development, disaster management, school education, agriculture and women empowerment, he said.

It earmarks a sum of Rs 6741 crore for school education, Rs 2,053.92 crore for roads and bridges department, Rs 1,148. 26 crore for disaster management, Rs 966.68 crore for agriculture, Rs 862.84 crore for drinking water and Rs 773.20 crore for housing and urban development.

It also proposed Rs 513 .13 crore for higher education, Rs 319 crore for alternative energy
