U'khand govt to sell subsidised pulses at PDS centres

Uttarakhand government today opened 24 counters at PDS shops in Dehradun to sell pulses at subsidised rates and also asked officials to set up four such counters at PDS outlets in their respective areas.
Arhar dal is available at these counters for Rs 145 per kg, Malka dal for Rs 90 per kg and Chana dal for Rs 70 per kg.
With pulses available on subsidised rates at these counters, people thronged the PDSoutlets in the city including Chukkhuwala, GMS Road, Kanwali Road, Kargi chawk, Mothrowala and Saharanpur road which sold hundreds of kgs of pulses on the first day, an official release here said.
Principal secretary, food supplies, Radha Raturi who inspected subsidised pulse counters at PDS shops in the city for a feedback said the move has come as a big relief for people of the state.
She said anyone can get pulses at subsidised rates at this counters as norms have been releaxed and producing a PDS card for pulses is not compulsory.
