Uttarakhand Governor Aziz Qureshi today announced to constitute a committee of vice chancellors of different universities to propagate Sanskrit language across country.
The Governor, while addressing the concluding ceremony of the three-day International Sanskrit Conference at Raj Bhawan here, announced to form the committee under the chairmanship of vice chancellor of Tirupati-based Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth.
The committee will work to connect Sanskrit with modern sciences and knowledge, he said, adding, the first meeting of the committee will be held in New Delhi next month.
Qureshi said Sanskrit is not limited to any religion as in Bhopal the Muslim rulers used to propagate the ancient language for 240 years.
"If there is any language that has the character of being accepted widely in every walks of life from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, it is Sanskrit," Qureshi said.
Scholars across the country and abroad participated in the conference. The conference, held at Qureshi's initiative, is the first of its kind in the state.
