U'khand to reduce use of plastic, ban spitting at public place

Uttarakhand government will soon frame laws aimed at minimising pollution caused by use of plastics and putting a ban on spitting and garbage dumping in public places.
The decision was taken by the state cabinet at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Harish Rawat here late last evening.
Laws will be put in place to ensure that units manufacturing plastic goods buy back used plastic carry bags and bottles from people so that they do not dump plastic waste in public places.
The Cabinet also decided to frame a law putting a ban on spitting and garbage dumping in public places.
As per provisions of this law, anyone caught dumping garbage in a public place will be fined Rs 1,000.
The state Cabinet also decided to make river rafting tax free besides keeping aero sports, hot balloon exempt from entertainment tax for three years.
The Cabinet also decided that as many as 130 teachers of Urdu, 25 of Bengali and 10 of Gurumukhi will be appointed in the government primary schools all over the state.
