Nearly 21,000 students have already started classes in these institutions, the UAE's official news agency Wam reported.

The Project focuses on four major sectors, education, public health, roads and bridges.

Abdullah Khalifa Al Ghafli, Director of the Project said that UAE has built and rehabilitated 53 schools and colleges at a cost of USD 27.634 million to accommodate between 25,000-28,000 students.

The new schools built with UAE's support provide world-class facilities to both students and teachers, the report said.

Ghafili said that the educational facilities had been carried out in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, South Waziristan and Bajaur, the areas where schools were destroyed and due to lack of nearby schools, students had to take a long journey to join schools in other remote regions.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province is one of the worst hit by Taliban insurgency.
