Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and Chairman of Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), has ordered authorities to send urgent humanitarian assistance to the victims of the disaster.
Official news agency WAM reported that Sheikh Hamdan has ordered immediate help to meet the basic needs of the people affected by floods in Jammu and Kashmir, where more than 200 people have died and tens of thousands affected by the floods.
He said that ERC would work to ensure delivery of humanitarian aid to the victims from the local market.
Floods triggered by incessant rain in Jammu and Kashmir in the first week of September has caused widespread damage to property and infrastructure in the state.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has described the current floods in the state as the worst in 109 years.
