Forensic experts today confirmed before a Delhi court that finger prints lifted from the car have matched with that of the 25-year-old woman who was raped allegedly by the driver of the US-based Uber cab.
The court also recorded the statements of seven other prosecution witnesses, including two more forensic experts, four Delhi Police officials involved in the probe and a doctor who had examined 32-year-old accused driver, Shiv Kumar Yadav after his arrest.
In his deposition, Harinder Prasad, a senior scientific officer-II in Central Forensic Science Laboratory, CBI, said he had lifted and developed finger prints during inspection of Swift Dzire car in which the alleged incident took place.
Apart from Prasad, the court also recorded statements of two more forensic experts.
Dr Alok of Bara Hindu Rao Hospital said he had examined the accused on the morning of December 8, 2014 and during examination, multiple abrasions were found on his face and other body parts.
He said after collecting the samples of Yadav, he had sent the accused to another department for expert opinion on potency report.
During the day's hearing, Yadav's counsel cross-examined sub inspector Devender, who had arrested the accused from Mathura on the evening of December 7, 2014, and deposed that no public witness was asked to join the probe at the time of the arrest or during the driver's personal search.
"We were apprehending that there may be hue and cry as accused was local of that area and we left the place immediately," the official said, while denying that he had deliberately not sought public witnesses to join the probe.
The court had earlier recorded statements of 12 witnesses including the victim who had identified Yadav as the one who had raped her on the night of December 5, 2014 when she had hired the cab and was returning home in west Delhi's Inderlok.
The woman, who has deposed that Yadav had forced upon her, has stood firm on her stand during her examination.
The court has framed charges against Yadav under various sections of the Indian Penal Code for alleged offences of endangering a woman's life while raping her, kidnapping with an intent to compel her for marriage, criminally intimidating and causing hurt.
