UCIL chairman gets IIT Kgp distinguished alumni award

Chairman and Managing Director of public sector unit Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL), Diwakar Acharya, was conferred IIT Kharagpur 'Distinguished Alumni Award' by Bharat Ratna awardee and world famous scientist Dr CNR Rao during the institute's Golden Jubilee Celebrations and 60th convocation.
He was awarded this distinction for his outstanding contributions to Indian Mining Industry at a glittering function held on Saturday, UCIL press release said today.
Acharya was already the recipient of 'Life Time Achievement Award' from Indian Mining & Engineering Journal for his lifetime contribution to hard rock mining and research in India through effective leadership and a recipient of Gold Award from Greentech Foundation, New Delhi for his outstanding achievement in HR.
Under his dynamic leadership and guidance, UCIL has bagged several awards in the recent years including Golden Peacock Award 2013 for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and National Safety Award (Mines) consecutively from 1993 to 1995 and again from 2008 to 2010.
