UD ministry to launch cleanliness awareness campaign in NCR

With a view to promote cleanliness awareness in the National Capital Region (NCR), Urban Development Ministry will soon launch a campaign with 450 youths going to different areas in the region to motivate people for adopting healthy sanitations practices.
For the purpose, the Ministry has inked an MoU with Nehru Yuvak Kendra (NYK) to deploy 50 youth for 52 days each in the five municipal areas of Delhi (NDMC, NMCD, SMCD, EMCD and Delhi Cantonment), Faridabad, Gurgaon, Ghaziabad and Noida for the awareness movement.
The MoU was signed by Urban Development Ministry Joint Secretary Praveen Prakash and NYK Director General Major General Dilawar Singh in the presence of Union Ministers M Venkaiah Naidu and Rao Inderjit Singh and Youth Affairs Secretary Rajiv Gupta.
"Urban Development Ministry will soon launch an 'Asli Tarakki (Real development)' campaign in the six cities of the National Capital Region with 450 select youth...To promote awareness about the need for sanitation," an official release said.
The youth will be selected during a two-day orientation workshop and will be given further training to undertake awareness and motivational campaigns through elocution, cultural performances and nukkad nataks.
Naidu lauded the pilot youth engagement and asked the officials and NYK to ensure its success so that the same could be replicated in other parts, the release said.
Under the Rs 4.70 crore pilot youth engagement, a total of 23,400 mandays would be spent promoting Swachh Bharat Mission objectives in urban areas, it added.
