Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray today slammed the ally BJP for revoking the suspension of Prashant Paricharak, a member of the Legislative Council, who had run into a controversy over his remarks about soliders last year.
Speaking at an event here, Thackeray said the BJP-led government promptly suspended a constable who spoke against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but no action was taken against Paricharak, a BJP leader.
"Jawans are being martyred on the border, but he (Paricharak) insults their families. How can his suspension be revoked? Oust him from his post of MLC and hold a fresh election. Field another candidate, and we (the Sena) will not field anyone. We will also ask the Congress and NCP not to field any candidate so that your candidate wins unopposed," Thackeray said.
The state government today revoked the suspension of Paricharak, who had made objectionable comments about wives of soldiers. The BJP MLC had later apologised for his statement.
