Opposition Congress-led UDF today sought convening of a special session of the Kerala assembly to discuss the crisis being faced by the state's co-operative sector following demonetisation.
The UDF leaders today met Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and urged him to call for a special session of the assembly on the issue.
The front today observed a 'black day' to protest the cash crunch faced by the state follwing the demonetisation of 1,000 and 500 rupee notes.
"UDF will not accept any decision that will destroy the co-operative sector in the state. We will fully back government against any such move by the BJP," Opposition leader in the state Assembly, Ramesh Chennithala told reporters after a delegation of UDF leaders met Vijayan.
The government should take steps on a war-footing to tackle the crisis, Chennithala said, adding that there were also plans to launch joint agitations.
"We will have to launch joint agitations and this would be decided after the all party meeting on November 21," he said.
