Udit Raj, BJP's Lok Sabha MP from North West Delhi, today inaugurated a slew of projects under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojna, a pet project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi which has seen mixed progress since its launch.
Raj said the scheme has the potential to be a "game changer" and he is using its resources to develop the villages.
"The scheme has the ability to be a game changer. It is aimed not only at physical development but also at changing mindsets of people. It is also aimed at increasing scientific, technical and commercial focus of agriculture as traditional practices of agriculture are still followed in Delhi's villages," he said in a statement.
He has adopted Jaunti village in his constituency and has started projects like construction of a toilet block at a cost of Rs 12 lakh, construction of a welcome gate in the village at a cost of Rs 23 lakh, inauguration of high mast and LED lights at a cost of Rs 71 lakh from MPLADS funds among other programmes, it said.
"The Modi government has created countless opportunities for farmers to increase their incomes and develop them into entrepreneurs," he said, seeking the villagers' cooperation.
