The decision was taken at the Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting of the party held here today.
"We decided to go on our own and felt that we need not go with any alliance in the ensuing elections," UDP president Donkupar Roy told reporters here.
According to Roy, the party is very much confident that it will be able to form the next government in the state.
"The main reason that we decided to (go) alone is that we have already been able to finalise our candidates from almost all the constituencies in the state," the UDP chief said.
The UDP also announced the names of their five candidates -- Draison Kharshiing from Nongkrem, Wonderful Lapang from Jirang constituency, Edward Kharmawphlang from Shillong South (Laban), Arun N Marak
