UHTA to hold protest meet over raid at faculty's residence

University of Hyderabad Teachers' Association (UHTA) today said it will hold a protest meet tomorrow at the campus against the varsity administration's move to carry out raid at the residence of an associate professor.
The searches were carried out on May 31 when associate professor Dr Gracious Temsen's was on vacation in Shillong, an official UHTA release issued here said.
Terming the raid as "illegal", UHTA said the security officers failed to furnish any official order or notice during the raid and the "all-male" team of security officials raided Temsen's house, clicked photos of her brother, niece and few other students who were present at the quarter, and also took pictures of belongings like cupboard.
The teachers' body termed the raid a blatant violation of privacy of individuals.
"UHTA office bearers met the VC multiple times and once also along with many other concerned faculty. However, the administration has disregarded the sentiments of the faculty with impunity.
In response, the faculty have decided to gather in large numbers at the VC's office on Monday ie August 31, 2015 to impress upon him and the administration the widespread anger and anguish at the way a fellow faculty member has been treated. And to demand that the VC accept the UHTA GBM resolutions, the statement said.
The association demanded a public apology to Temsen from the university administration.
It also demanded that an inquiry committee be set up with members from outside the varsity, including women representatives and representatives from the North-East to look into the incident.
