Though the Directorate of Census Operations had collected demographic and biometric data of 2.41 crore people, the UIDAI found errors in that of 29.29 lakh and declined to generate their Aadhar cards, census operations director Bishnupada Sethi said.
The state government, it was learnt, was waiting for directives from the UIDAI to help these people to enrol again for the Aadhar cards.
"We are waiting for directives from the UIDAI and the enrolment of these people under the Aadhar scheme would start soon," Sethi said.
In a letter to Union Petroleum secretary, state chief secretary J K Mohapatra requested an extension of the deadline from January 31 to April 30 for seven districts in the first phase, a senior government official said here.
"The Chief Secretary has also requested the ministry to extend the deadline for three districts to June 30 in the second phase," food and supplies secretary MS Padhee said.
