Seeking to explore opportunities in India in the field of low carbon technologies and business, Britain's Minister of State for Energy and Climate Change Greg Barker will visit the country next week.
During his four-day visit between June 30 and July 3, Barker, who is also Minister for Business Engagement with India, will hold discussions with ministers and business leaders in New Delhi and Hyderabad focusing largely on the Bangalore Mumbai Economic Corridor (BMEC) project.
"The BMEC is a project I am particularly keen to promote during this visit. Like much of our cooperation, it is my hope that this project will help both India and the UK meet the twin challenges of creating green and sustainable economic growth while tackling dangerous man-made climate change," Barker said here today.
"As minister for business engagement with India, I am constantly astonished at the range of opportunities for deeper cooperation between the UK and India. Not just on energy and low carbon, but in the wider sphere of business: from innovative engineering to large-scale financial markets; from widespread retail to large infrastructure projects such as the Bangalore Mumbai Economic Corridor," he added.
In Delhi, the Conservative Party MP will meet ministers and business heads involved in the energy sector, including clean energy and renewable energy finance, and green infrastructure.
In Hyderabad, he will meet senior members of the Andhra Pradesh government and address the business community on tackling climate change and sustainable economic growth.
