UK Health Minister for furthering ties in healthcare sector

Soubry is leading a British health sector delegation, including a group of medical device companies, on a five-day tour to discuss the future of India-UK collaboration in the field, a British High Commission release said.

"I am delighted to be in India. It is a valuable opportunity to deepen the enduring relationship between our countries and to strengthen our co-operation in response to growing needs of innovation in the healthcare sector," she said.

"I am also looking forward to collaboration between the two countries in areas of private and public health care and education providers," the visiting minister said.

Besides New Delhi, the delegation will also visit Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and Trivandrum to hold interactions for carrying forward its cooperation agenda.

Soubry will also call on the Drug Controller General of India and will meet Kerala Chief Minister Ooman Chandy in Trivandrum tomorrow, the release said.

On January 16, she will meet Dr Devi Shetty at Narayana Hrudayalaya Hospital in Bangalore and will also visit phrama firm Biocon.

The UK Minister will meet Karnataka Health Minister Aravind Limbavali and will deliver the Inaugural Address at the Indo-UK Diabetes Summit in Chennai on January 18.

She will also meet Tamil Nadu's Health Minister V S Vijay on the same day.
