Blending wardrobe, music with cuisines, international singer from UK Shivali Bhammer walked the ramp in designer Jaya Mishra show at a Mughal-themed outlet. Shivali, the celebrated Bhajan singer popular among the expatriates from the sub-continent, donned the robes in a traditional style to recreate a royal splendour marking the advent of summer at the 'Royals of Surf' show at Veda, the Mughal-era restaurant owned by fashion guru Rohit Bal and others here. "With Indian music becoming more global in the digital age and the new media making it more a visual art form, I went through the experience of singing in another form. The modern India woman is sensual, contemporary yet value-based and deeply connected to her core," Shivali said this evening. As the guests watched the walk savouring the delectable trademark north-west frontier dishes, including 'parathas' made from 500-year old recipes, all vetted by Rohit Bal himself, Shivali and others wore the bridal couture drawing heavily on traditional 'Bharotiyo' motifs. Jaya Misra, whose robes were recently flaunted by the contests in Femina Miss India pageant, said, "My new collection celebrates culture and heritage. Shivali embodies the attributes of a young woman who is positive, assertive yet believes in traditional values and ethos." Mishra, whose collection is available in Dubai, Hong Kong, Toronto and United Kingdom, said she loved to tinker with mixed fabrics like velvet, brocade, georgette, net, shimmer with light hand machine embroidery showcasing the rich zari work by the karigars which gives a feel of the royal Awadhs befitting the Mughal-era splendour and intricate filegree work adoning the walls of Veda.
