In a shocking case of police apathy, a 25-year-old injured woman remained trapped in a car for three days beside her boyfriend's dead body following a road accident in Scotland.
The accident, which claimed the life of John Yuill, 28, and left Lamara Bell severely injured, took place on Sunday and the couple lay undiscovered for three days.
Yuill and Bell were driving along the M9 when they apparently left the road and crashed through some trees and into a field.
Incredibly, police in Scotland have now admitted they received reports of a car leaving the road but failed to investigate, mirror.Co.Uk reported today.
According to the Daily Record newspaper, they found the scene on Wednesday morning after receiving a second report of a car having left the motorway. It is thought this was when the body of John and an injured Lamara were discovered.
On Monday, Police Scotland had issued a press release declaring John and Lamara missing and saying they were "extremely concerned" for their welfare.

A full investigation has been launched into the circumstances behind the crash.
"Police Scotland were called to the M9 southbound near junction 9 at around 9.50 AM on Wednesday (yesterday) following a report of a one car road traffic collision involving a Renault Clio which had left the road," Assistant Chief Constable Kate Thomson, Local Policing East, said.
"As part of our investigation into this incident, it has come to light that a call was made to police late on Sunday morning regarding a car which was reported as being off the road. For reasons currently being investigated, that report was not followed up at the time. Following a call this morning, officers attended the scene," he said.
