F K Troeschina from Ukraine taught a few lessons in football to Government Higher Secondary School, Chhattisgarh, in what turned out to be a one-sided affair in the Under-17 Boys section of the 55 th Subroto Cup International Football Tournament here today.
The Ukraine team struck 13 goals without getting a reply from their opponent.
The group B game not only showed what a real foreign flavor means but also a high-class clinical performance from them against a hapless Chhattisgarh team. With a tight defence the Ukraine did not have to bother about anything except making deep inroads with their competent forwards.
Though Ukraine took eight minutes to open their account through Moskalenko Anton, the first goal helped open the floodgates for others to make merry.
Anton scored five times while Nagula Yam and Ovcharenko Evgen three each and Oblozhok Maxym and Chobotor Oleg one apiece to complete the task.
In other matches at the same venue, the combined NCC team from West Bengal and Sikkim also more or less repeated what the Ukraine did as the former thumped Navrachna International School (Gujarat) 12-0 in a group C encounter. Shanu did the star turn for the winners with five goals as Rajaram (2), Mohammad Akram (2), Tapas (2) and Amar Nath (1) added to the tally.
In another high-scoring match in group C, SAI, Assam downed Air Force Bal Bharti School (New Delhi) 7-1 in the third match at the Ambedkar Stadium. In another match here, MSP Higher secondary School from Kerala drew 2-2 with Bangladesh Kidha Siksha Pratisthan in group D.
At the NWC ground, Emerald Heights International School (MP) drew 2-2 with Progress Higher Secondary School from Goa; St Stanislaus School (Bihar) beat Government Senior Secondary School (Car Nicobar) 4-1; Betkuchi HE School (Assam) won over Delhi Public School (Haryana) 2-1 and Afros A Higher Secondary Scool (Manipur) accounted for IPSC (DPS RK Puram) 7-1 to complete the day's engagement.
Tomorrow, in the under-17 girls section, Nagaland will clash with Assam in the semifinals to decide the team for the final against Haryana on October 10.
