Most parts of Punjab and Haryana reeled under cold weather conditions with Karnal being the coldest place in the region at 2.4 degrees Celsius.
Union Territory Chandigarh, the joint capital of both the states, witnessed its minimum at 5.6 degreesCelsius,an official of the MeT department said Wednesday.
Among other places in Punjab, Amritsar, Ludhiana and Patiala braved cold conditions at3.6, 4.1 and 4.1 degrees Celsius respectively, up to two degrees below normal.
Pathankot, Halwara, Adampur, Gurdaspur, Bathinda and Faridkotrecorded their respective lows at 5.6, 4.2, 3, 4.7, 3 and 3 degrees Celsius.
In Haryana, Ambala, Hisar, and Narnaul experienced cold weather conditions at 4.8, 3.7 and 3.5 degrees Celsius respectively, up to three degrees below normal.
Rohtak, Bhiwani and Sirsa recorded their respective lows at 4.8, 6.5 and 5.2 degrees Celsius respectively, up to two notches below normal.
Fog was witnessed at several places including Patiala, Ludhiana, Karnal and Amritsar, the official said.
