Unaccounted cash Rs 42.59 lakh returned

: An amount of Rs 43.64 lakh unaccounted cash has so far been seized by election officials during vehicle checks in the district, comprising 10 assembly constituencies.
Of the total amount seized, Rs 42.59 lakh was returned to the owners after they produced valid documents for carrying the money, official sources said.
The officials have registered 250 cases of violation of election code of conduct till now, they added.
The model code of conduct is in force in Tamil Nadu, where assembly elections will be held on May 16.
