Unaccounted cash worth Rs 87.53 lakh seized in Kadapa district

Unaccounted cash worth Rs 87.53 lakh and gold ornaments worth Rs 58 lakh have been seized from various persons in the district so far since the model code of conduct came into force for Lok Sabha and Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections.
"Special teams have collectively seized cash worth Rs 87,53,215 from number of persons," said a statement issued by the office of district collector and election officer here today.
Out of the total seizure, flying squads recovered Rs 44,79,215, a surveillance team Rs 40.74 lakh and a police team Rs 2 lakh, the statement said.
The collector said the concerned teams have also seized gold ornaments worth Rs 58 lakh.

"As many as 5128 bind over cases are registered and 175 weapons are deposited. Besides, two vehicles, 41 gas cylinders and 562 sarees are also seized in the district," he said.
