Congrees leader Mukesh Kumar who is on an indefinite strike over the conditions of unauthorised colonies today said such settlements in Uttam Nagar are standing on "explosives" and untoward incident may occur any day.
The ex-MLA's indefinite hunger strike over the issue entered the third day today.
"The colonies are standing on 'barood' (explosives) and an untoward incident may occur any day. The Delhi Government and Municipal Corporation have not learnt any lesson," a statement quoted Sharma as telling a gathering of locals at the agitation site of Mohan Garden area.
Holding BJP-led MCD and the AAP government responsible for "unliveable" conditions in unauthorised colonies in Delhi, Sharma reiterated that notwithstanding his protest, roads in the area remain water-logged even as garbage heaps are piling up and sewers getting choked.
"The leaders of BJP and AAP should come out from their air conditioned rooms and see conditions of unauthorised colonies. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal should spend one night in unauthorised colony. He will come to know the day-to-day problems faced by people residing in the colonies," he said.
