Undertrial attempts suicide in Raj jail

A 25-year-old undertrial lodged in Bundi jail allegedly tried to commit suicide by banging his head against the wall of his cell this morning, an official said.
Undertrial Ramesh Chand Meghwal, a resident of Hindoli, received head injury after he smashed his head against the wall and was rushed to Bundi government hospital where he is undergoing treatment, Additional Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar Yadav said.
The inmate was lodged in the jail under Arms Act, he said.
Jailor Batti Lal Meena confirmed the incident and said that the prisoner is mentally disturbed and was a drug addict.
No report has been submitted to the police in this regard, the jailor said, adding, the incident is "not a serious one" and the inmate has been admitted to the hospital.
He was lodged in Bundi jail on May 7, the jailor added.
