A police officer said Ashis Sadhu suddenly broke away from police cordon on way to court. He climbed on a transformer and 'touched' the live wire.
Sadhu was declared dead after power connection was snapped and he was taken to a doctor, the officer said, adding a case has been lodged in connection with his unnatural death.
Sadhu had been arrested on the basis of complaint lodged by a local minor girl's father with whom he had eloped days back and was brought back to his native village in Beliator area under Jhargram sub-division by the two families, the officer said, quoting the complaint and neighbours of the boy and minor.
