A police team of four officials, including an ASI of Hoshirapur district, had brought Dilpreet Singh of village Dhahan under Nurpur Bedi police station to a Ropar court in a case registered against him, they said.
After the court appearance the police party was attacked by six armed car-borne assailants when they stopped to have lunch at a 'dhaba' in Railmajra, police said,
The men overpowered the police personnel, snatched their AK-47 rifles and fled with Singh against whom several other cases are registered in various police stations in the area.
