United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will provide support in implementation of Arunachal Vision 2030 and Chief Minister's Mission on Skill Development and Employment Generation in the state.
In a meeting with Chief Minister Nabam Tuki in New Delhi yesterday, the Country Head of UNDP India, Dr Jaco Cilliers while lauding the initiatives of the state government expressed willingness of his organisation to support the state in these two programmes, an official communique said here today.
UNDP India Programme Analyst Dr Ruchi Pant, who was also present in the meeting, offered to explore other areas of collaboration with the state government including disaster management, medicinal plants, eco tourism development, bio diversity conservation among others, an official communique said here today.
Tuki while outlining the priorities of his government, suggested that multi-lateral agencies like UNDP should work hand in hand with the state and focus on long term collaborations in improving the livelihood of the people in a sustainable manner.
He said UNDP could play a major role in capacity building of communities which are perennially affected by natural disasters and also called for strategic support from UNDP in organic certification so as to increase the market competitiveness of organic products of Arunachal Pradesh.
A team from UNDP India will visit Arunachal Pradesh next month and finalise the modalities of collaboration after discussion with senior officials of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh, the communique added.
