Refusing to draw any comparisons between his performance as the 'Aam Admi' prototype in Neeraj Pandey's 'Royal Bengal Tiger' and friend-colleague Parambrata Chatterjee's 'Haru' in Hercules, 'Feluda' actor Abir Chatterjee says he is proud having such an "Awesome actor" in new age Tollywood.
Asked how he would portray Parambrata's Haru if he were cast in the role, Abir shot back, "Very unfair question. I was simply bowled over by the intense performance of Param, my co-actor in the industry, His body language, his dialogue delivery, his drooping posture and frightened look showed his class."
"(The) Only thing I can say that both of us are getting to portray such characters these days with directors experimenting more," Abir, who earned kudos for portraying an in-charge of a sanitorium in 'Meghe Dhaka Tara' said.
Parambrata, soaking the adulation from personalities including director Sandip Ray, with whom he had worked in Feluda film years back as a gawky teenager, said, "Babuda's (Sandip) and Abir's praise mean a lot for me. My brief was to be someone who I am not intrinsically."
"The common man's moustache in the movie works as a metaphor which signifies inner strength of a human being, and with cinema being the medium to reach common people, you have to incorporate populist elements in the narration. It can't be surreal," the foul-mouthed cop in 'Baishe Srabon' said.
Theatre personality-actor-tv anchor Sujan Neel Mukherjee said, he found the intriguing story line bearing resonance with cult drama 'Jagannath' of the Chetna group (founded by his playwright father Ashok Mukherjee).
"We have introduced populist elements throughout the plot, but made it realistic in the end as no individual can wage a battle against the mafia and only collective people's anger and wrath," director Sudeshna Guha-Abhijit Roy said.
Hercules, produced by Greentouch Entertanment, also witnessed a turnout of Aparna Sen, Kaushik Ganguly and some other leading names of Bengali cinema.
