An unidentified "intruder" was shot dead by the BSF, when he reached close to the barbed fencing on the Indian territory after crossing the border from the Pakistani side, an official said here today.
Yesterday at village Channa on the Indo-Pak border in the Ajnala sector, the intruder after crossing the Indo-Pak border reached near the barbed fencing on Indian territory, he said.
The intruder was asked by the BSF to surrender, but he ignored and kept marching in an aggressive posture, the official said.
Sensing danger and to stop further misadventure, the BSF opened fire and shot him dead on the spot, said the official.
Nothing objectionable was found when he was frisked, he added.
The official said the identity as well as the nationality of the intruder was yet to be established.
If he was an Indian then the question arises why he was coming from the Pakistan side, the official said adding all suspicions would be cleared after a thorough investigation which was still under progress.
