"Parents aspire that their wards become good doctors, good engineers and officers, but we need good people to join politics," Rudy said speaking at an event to felicitate students of Kendriya Vidyalaya Kharagpur, the winners of the National Youth Parliament Competition.
He said that as ministers and MPs, they are answerable to the government while the Prime Minister also takes stock of their performance every Tuesday.
"Today we are 282, we meet here (at the Parliament annexe) every Tuesday. In this platform, we deliberate. We are scolded. Good work done are discussed here and those who do not do good work are warned and told what to do and what not to do," he said.
But what concerns everybody is ensuring smooth and effective functioning of the government, he said.
The good part of a healthy democracy also rests on the fact that despite divergent views and heated arguements in Parliament, political parties support passage of legislations and ensure functioning of Parliamentary democracy, he added.
