Union Minister condemns bomb attack on BJP office

Union Minister Harsh Vardhan today condemned the crude bomb attack on a BJP office in Thiruvananthapuram and pulled up the state government on the issue, asking the CPI(M)-led LDF dispensation to "behave in a responsible manner."
"It is very sad and it has to be condemned by one and all, not only in Kerala but everywhere in the country," the Union Science and Technology Minister said, reacting to the incident which occurred on Tuesday night in the state capital.
The BJP state unit has alleged that the CPI(M) workers were behind the attack.
"Ideological fight should be of ideology. It should not be a physical fight," Harsh Vardhan, who is also a senior BJP leader, said on the sidelines of a function organised at Ponkunnam in the district.

Reminding the ruling CPI(M)-led LDF government of its responsibility, the Minister said, "when you are in power, your responsibility becomes many times more to behave in a very responsible manner."
No one was injured in the incident which occurred shortly after BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan had left the office for Kozhikode, where preparations are on for the three-day National Executive and Council meeting from September 23 which is being attended by senior party leaders and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

When asked how the central leadership viewed the development in the state, he said what he expressed was "a universal sentiment and this can't be different of different people at different levels."

The incident occurred close on the heels of a series of sporadic clashes between CPI(M) and BJP workers in the past few months in northern Kannur district.
Rajasekharan has alleged that CPI(M), the lead partner of the ruling LDF in Kerala, had taken law into its hands and police was a "mere spectator".
