Unique grafitti art for patients at govt general hospital
Press Trust of India Kochi Aiming at enhancing the therapeutic power of art for patients at the Ernakulam Government General Hospital, its administration and Kochi Biennale Foundation (KBF) are turning the hospital's crimson coloured walls into a broad canvas that will facilitate artists from across the country in creating unique graffiti art.
Come next week and the artists will start work on "Art Walls" project, according to outgoing medical superintendent Dr Annie P G, who addressed the weekly Arts and Medicine programme organised by KBF and Mehboob Memorial Orchestra at the hospital premises on Wednesdays.
KBF Research Co-ordinator Bonny Thomas said the Arts and Medicine series would from next week combine music with artworks for the patients. "A panel comprising doctors will review the artists' ideas before creating the actual works on the walls," he informed.
Today's Arts and Medicine, which was the 60th in the series, was led by vocalists Chorus Peter, Chorus Totto and Gauri Sunil. The singers enlivened the audience with classic melodies from yesteryear Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi movies.
Annie was given an affectionate send-off by KBF, patients and her colleagues on the occasion.
