Research students at Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskirt here, who planned to hold an 'anti-fascist conclave', were today denied permission by the management for conducting the event, claiming it will create tension in the campus.
The conclave, envisaged as a summit of a number of eminent personalities propagating anti-fascist ideologies, was scheduled to be held at the campus on October 8.
The Research Students Association (RSA), the organiser of the event, today informed university authorities about the meeting only to be told that the the University Registrar had denied permission.
T P Ravindran, Registrar of the university, said the programme was denied permission only to avoid any kind of 'turbulent' situation on the campus.
"There was a clash between students, belonging to two different political organisations on the campus three days ago. Following the incident, classes are going on under police protection," he told PTI.
"A turbulent situation is still prevailing on the campus. So, we do not want to aggravate it by giving permission for such a meet," he said.
