The depression over the north-west Bay of Bengal, off the Odisha coast, moved north-eastwards and weakened into a well- marked low pressure area off the north OdishaWest Bengal coast, the Met department said today.
Due to its effect, a heavy rain would occur at isolated places over Gangetic West Bengal till tomorrow, it added.
Squally wind, clocking 40-50 km per hour and rising up to 60 km per hour, was very likely to prevail along and off the Odisha and West Bengal coasts till tomorrow morning, the Met office said.
Day temperatures were significantly lower in Gangetic West Bengal with Kolkata recording 25.6 degrees Celsius, four notches below normal.
The coastal town of Digha recorded the day's high at 23.5 degrees Celsius, six notches below normal, while at Diamond Harbour, it was 25.1 degrees Celsius, five notches below normal.
There were traffic snarls at various places in the city owing to the rain.
