PhD student in University's ACRHEM department, Moses Abhraham, suddenly took out a blade and slit his wrist during a teaching session yesterday evening.
He was immediately taken to health centre in the campus and then to a private hospital where he was treated and discharged last night, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of UoH, Vipin Srivastava, told PTI.
The academic supervisor of the research scholar, who stays outside the varsity, accompanied him to his friend's place and made sure that he ate something, he said.
A students' union gave a representation in the Vice Chancellor's office on the matter and it will be looked into, Srivastava added.
Earlier this year, the suicide of research scholar Rohith Vemula on the campus had rocked the UoH. It had triggered a nationwide political controversy and debate.
