The Bharatiya Kishan Union (BKU) today threatened that it would hold a statewide agitation against revised sugarcane prices by the Uttar Pradesh government.
National spokesperson, BKU, Rajesh Tikait demanded that the minimum price be kept at Rs 450 per quintal instead of Rs 350 per quintal as announced by the government yesterday.
The revised sugarcane prices were not acceptable to farmers, he said.
Meanwhile, the BKU today said its activists would burn sugarcane crops in every district headquarter of the state tomorrow to protest revised prices by the UP government.
