UP Cabinet deliberates on 14th Finance Commission provisions
Press Trust of India Lucknow The Uttar Pradesh government today discussed the 14th Finance Commission recommendations over which Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had voiced concerns that it will lead to decrease in the share of nine non-NDA states, including UP.
The recommendations came up during the Cabinet meeting presided over by the Chief Minister here today.
Earlier in March, Yadav had written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, thanking him for raising the share of states in central taxes to 42 per cent from current 32 per cent, but had said, in reality the states, including Uttar Pradesh, would "stand to lose".
Pointing out the details as to how the state (UP) is set to lose its share, Yadav asked the Prime Minister to remove this "anomaly".
Yadav had rooted for maintaining the central share in the centrally-sponsored schemes as before so that there is no dearth of funds in the schemes being run for the benefit of the weaker sections, farmers, labourers, scheduled castes and tribes.
