The Uttar Pradesh cabinet today decided to set up a four-member committee for studying ways and means of ensuring proper participation of minority community candidates in government jobs and encouraging them in education.
The cabinet also approved "Uttar Pradesh Mata Pita Aur Varishta Nagrikon Ka Kalyan Niyamavali" to ensure that the people take care of their parents and senior citizens.
A state government spokesman said the cabinet had decided to set up appellate authorities at district level wherein parents deprived by their offspring would be able to approach and get redressal.
Depending upon the financial capacity, the authorities might order the children to pay allowance up to Rs 10,000 to their parents.
Under the rule provisions shall also be made for setting up old age homes for the senior citizens.
