However, a loss of about Rs 7 crore was estimated by the local administration, as around 99 shops and business establishments were gutted or damaged by the rioters in the city alone.

The government had earlier distributed Rs 40 lakhs as an interim relief to the victims on October 30.

The chief minister, who visited the city today, also distributed about Rs 60 lakhs to 93 victims from Sohawal, Bikapur and Milkipur towns of Faizabad, which were also affected due to the communal flare-up.

Riots broke out simultaneously in Faizabad, and some towns on the outskirts of the city on October 24 after the immersion of Durga idols.

After the incident, Akhilesh had announced that full compensation will be given to all victims at the earliest, but almost 50 days after the riots, government is successful in distributing only 20 per cent of the total accessed damages, locals allege after the visit of the chief minister.

Cheques of Rs 4.5 lakhs each were given to Anamika and Sajjul Nisa, the widows of Nageshwar Prasad and Abdul Rauf, who died in riots.
