Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today held a 'Janta Darbar' (people's court) in Gorakhpur and directed officials to take quick action on complaints received from the people.

During a meeting with MPs and MLAs of 41 districts of Gorakhpur, Basti and Azamgarh divisions at the GDA building here, the chief minister asked the lawmakers to gear up for the 2019 Lok Sabha election.

He instructed them to visit the Dalit areas and make the people aware of the various welfare schemes launched by the Centre.

"On the birth anniversary of Dalit icon BR Ambedkar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the 'Gram Swaraj Abhiyan' for developing the most backward villages in the country. Visit the backward areas and villages to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach the poor," Adityanath said.

"The first phase of 'Gram Swaraj Abhiyan' will end on May 21 and the second phase will begin soon so you all should organise night chaupals in Dalit populated areas and villages, and hear the problems of beneficiaries," he said.

Around 8.85 lakh houses and toilets in rural areas and 3.6 lakh houses in urban areas were constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, he said.
