UP continues to reel under cold conditions

With no let up in cold wave conditions, parts of Uttar Pradesh continue to brave the chill with dense to very dense fog occurring at isolated places across the state.
The Met office here said dense to very dense fog occurred at a few places in eastern and western parts of the state, and cold wave continued at a few places, particularly in west UP.
Cold to severe cold day conditions prevailed in a few places in the state, it said, adding that day temperatures were markedly below normal in Gorakhpur, Faizabad, Lucknow, Bareilly and Moradabad divisions, just below normal in Varanasi, and normal in the remaining divisions of the state.

Night temperatures witnessed no major changes and were below normal in Allahabad, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Faizabad, Lucknow and Moradabad divisions, and normal in the remaining division of the state.
Muzaffarnagar recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the state at 3.6 degrees Celsius, the MeT office said.
The Meteorological department today forecast that weather is likely to remain dry with shallow to moderate fog in a few places in the state.
