"Delay in implementation of projects results in unnecessary cost escalation and people do not get benefit of the schemes on time," Naik said after laying foundation stone of UP State Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPSERC) here.
Terming population of the state as a precious asset of the country he said that serious thought should be given about the progress of Uttar Pradesh.
"One per cent growth in the GDP of the state create a huge difference in overall GDP of the country," he said.
He said that power has an important role to play in turning UP a 'Uttam' Pradesh.

Referring to gap in demand and supply of power, Naik said that it was not only in UP, but the entire country, adding that availability of power could be increased by reducing line losses.
While referring to increased responsibilities of the commission, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that listening to the grievances and problems of the consumers and resolving them was its main responsibility.
He said that unless the state progress through power, other basic facilities and welfare schemes, the country could not progress.
He said that if industry do not get adequate power at cheaper rates products become costlier which impacts the entire economy.
The CM said that therefore the government was making all efforts to ensure adequate power supply.
He said that possibility of hydro power plants was almost negligible in the state therefore the government has requested the centre to set up nuclear power plant.
Referring to recently released movie 'Katiyabaaz' he said that if 25 per cent of what shown in the movie was correct then it puts a question mark on the functioning of the department.
Akhilesh said that the government was working seriously to improve availability of power, other basic facilities along with roads.
