The Cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav gave its approval to the proposed MoU to be signed between Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) for the second phase of metro rail project, a spokesman said here.
With the expansion of the metro rail service from Delhi to Ghaziabad, commuting up to Delhi railway station and other important places would become easy for the people, the spokesman said, adding that it would also decrease dependence on road transport.
Besides, the Cabinet also took important decisions regarding works under the north-south corridor of the ambitious Lucknow metro rail project, the spokesperson said.
Decision has also been taken to allow the Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation to authorise the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation to invite and examine the tenders for the civil works to be carried out in the first phase of the north-south corridor, he added.
