Attacking BSP chief Mayawati over alleged misgovernance during her regime, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today said his government believes in "real development" and does not spend money on stone statues.

The Opposition has nothing to comment upon as the UP govt has been fulfilling all promises made in the party manifesto, Yadav said while distributing 50 laptops to undergraduates at a function held at Madan Mohan Malviya Engineering College here.

"The people who had said that I was distributing 'Jhunjhuna' (children's toy) to youths of the state are nowhere to be seen, while the government is fulfilling its promise," he said.

On the grim power situation in the state the Chief Minister said that the government is trying to 'improve' the scenario.

"We will buy electricity even from private sector to provide it to the poor and the villagers," Yadav said.

Later, inaugurating a 100-bed Encephalitis ward at the BRD Medical College here, he said that eradicating the menace of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) was the prime concern of his government and there would be no dearth of funds for providing treatment to patients suffering from the disease.

It may be noted that 1,741 patients have been detected as AES positive, of which 358 died since January this year in the eastern region.

He also inaugurated a Trauma Centre, an MRI Centre and a Community Centre on the Medical College campus.
