The decision to replace the word 'Samajwadi' by 'Mukhyamantri' was taken at a meeting of the state cabinet today. The earlier name had been adopted by the previous Samajwadi Party government in the state.
The scheme will benefit landless farmers, poor and street vendors, the state's power minister Shrikant Sharma said briefing newspersons after the meeting.
In another decision, the cabinet decided to make LED street lights mandatory in the areas falling under 16 nagar nigams of the state, he said.
"Because of growing urbanisation and industrialisation, cultivable land is reducing ...One lakh 56 thousand and 186 hectare land will be made cultivable under the Pandit Deendayal Upadhay Kisan Samriddhi Yojna," Sharma said.
